We all know the importance of having the right mindsets, but when the “waves of life” hit you, it seems like you can’t do anything to fix it. When you get stuck in that phase, I’ve compiled a mini list of techniques to improve your mindset.
Mindset #1: “I have to” vs. “I get to”
“I have to.”
“Ugh, it’s Monday...I have to go to school today and attend so many classes.”
“I have to clean my room. It’s such a mess!”
Have you thought of these statements aloud or maybe even...said these statements aloud? I know these statements go through my mind, especially on a Sunday night. Having the “have to” mindset is why many of us procrastinate in the first place.
Allow me to change your perspective by flipping one word in the statement above.
“I get to!”
“I get to go to school today and attend so many classes!”
“My room is a mess and I get to clean it!”
One simple change of a word can help to reframe our mindsets and remind us that there is potential benefit in every situation! For example, it might be hard to think of cleaning your room as an opportunity but cleaning and decluttering are physical activities that allow you to burn calories and create room for abundance. We should see every situation as a blessing.
Mindset #2: “Why Worry?” Chart

A businessman once kept a record of his worries. He discovered that 40% of them were about things that probably would never happen; 30% were concerned about past decisions that he could not change; 12% dealt with other people’s criticism of him, and 10% were worried about his health. He concluded that only 8% of them were really legitimate.
We can take a look at the “Why Worry?” chart. It asks us if we have a problem in our life. A problem we all are going through right now is the pandemic. Then, it asks if we can do smth about it. There is something we can do about it on our part: wear a mask and social distance. Still, the whole pandemic is not in our hands. We should accept that, do our part and not worry.
